Budget-Friendly Study Abroad: Spain

If you are interested in studying Spanish in Spain, but would like to save a little money, be sure to check out our Budget-Friendly locations in Spain: Barcelona, Madrid, and Salamanca.

Barcelona is the second-larget city in Spain, is located on the Mediterranean coast. Students who travel to Barcelona will delight in the its entertainment, art, achitecture, and museums available in this lively city. AmeriSpan’s Budget-Friendly program in Barcelona has a diverse mix of students, activities and culture lessons, and is close to beaches and ski areas.

Madrid, also a very cosmopolitan city, is the capital of Spain and is located pretty much in the center of the country. This makes it an excellent “hub” for travel throughout Spain. Our Budget-Friendly school in Madrid has an excellent Spanish program, organized activites, and an Intercambio program, which pairs English-speaking students with Spaniards so they can take turns conversing in each other’s language.

Salamanca is an ideal place to study Spanish if you are looking for a smaller city that might be easier to explore than a huge metropolis. This beautiful city, nicknamed “La Dorada,” or Golden City, for the golden glow of the sandstone buildings, is located in western Spain. Budget-Friendly students in Salamanca enjoy an excellent quality Spanish program and have the option of enrolling in Spanish & History (at an extra cost).

Budget-Friendly programs are by no means low-quality. Budget-Friendly programs do not skimp on the important stuff for learning your target language, such as teaching methodology, teacher training and experience, atmosphere, homestay interaction, personal attention paid to each student, school administration, past student feedback, and the overall value of the program. Where the value comes in is by de-emphasizing things like range of lodging options, accreditations and memberships, and extra activities, excursions, and services offered. Studying at a Budget-Friendly school can save you money and allow you to study for a longer period of time, thus compounding the amount of Spanish you learn and retain.

So, if you want to go to a quality school and learn Spanish with excellent teachers and recommendations by past students but without a lot of “extras,” don’t be afraid to try out a Budget-Friendly program.
