Meet Ana Ortega Ruiz, Academic Coordinator at AmeriSpan's Sevilla Spanish school
What is your background?
I'm 46, living in Sevilla with my husband, Paco, who is also a professor at Enforex Sevilla and my daughter Andrea, who is 10 years old. I studied at the University of Granada Philology, started learning about the Spanish language, and decided to do a Masters Methodology of Spanish as a foreign language to improve my skills and competencies as a teacher. I have also engaged in research, especially in the field of production and have written some articles published in Congress for Spanish teachers.
Do you travel abroad often?
Almost every year.
Have you studied abroad?
I attended an English class in London, while I was teaching a course to prepare teachers to teach Spanish.
Which languages do you speak or have studied?
I studied French in college and high school, in college I studied English and classical Arabic. Today I can speak a little English (elementary level) and some French (also elementary level).
How and why did you get into the Study Abroad market?
When I started in 1989, studying Spanish as a foreign language was a challenging and unexplored job market and , so I had an interesting start.

What is your job or function at the organization?
I'm the Academic Coordinator at Enforex Sevilla.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Being able to meet people of all nationalities and thus the personal enrichment that involves contact with the variety of cultures and personalities.

Tell us one of your biggest challenges in starting your organization.
The consolidation of the academic structure and developing a structure that promotes and develops academic skills and strategies for student learning in an efficient and successful Spanish.
Tell us one of your biggest mistakes in your job, studying/teaching a language and/or traveling abroad.
I think one of the biggest mistakes that often make when studying a language is not practicing for fear of making mistakes.
How did your organization begin working with AmeriSpan?
The president of my organization, Enforex, absorbed Amerispan.
Can you tell us about your school’s philosophy, specialty and/or why you think it is special?
I think our school has achieved an ideal environment for learning Spanish, because the closeness of all personnel working in the center. The students define it as personalized, creative, and encouraging for their personal development to learn Spanish, so I think to do a Spanish course in Seville Enforex becomes not only an interesting experience to learn Spanish, but an unforgettable life experience.
