Today marks the end of my second week here in Playa. These two weeks have gone by very fast, and I can't believe that I only have two weeks left. Today, my friends and I took a colectivo (basically, a taxi van that takes 10 or 15 people to places in one general direction) for only 30 pesos/person (about $3 US dollars) to Akumal.
Just in time for the holidays, AmeriSpan and Think Language have teamed up for a very special offer: Save $80 off one year of Think Spanish or save $70 off one year of Think French. As an extra bonus, each subscription includes access to a full year of back issues.
Why do we love Think Spanish and Think French?
With a subscription to Think Spanish or Think French, you receive 12 months of continuous learning with new content every month:

Let's face it, sometimes flying can be a serious hassle – especially when in a new place or when time is of the essence. Unexpected delays, security measures, cancellations, and any other annoyance you can think of can arise when trying to get from once place to another, even if you've done all you can to be organized and arrive early. With the holiday season upon us, we would like to highlight some wonderful gifts for you friends and loved ones (or even yourself!) who want to learn a new language, or are planning on or currently enrolled in a study abroad program.

A wonderful, feature article on MSNBC.com highlights learning languages abroad and educational vacations for travelers of all ages. For the 2nd time in 60 days, MSNBC came to AmeriSpan Study Abroad as key source for a featured article in their travel section.
The first article featured Dawn Soriano, 40, a high school Spanish teacher from St. Louis, Mo. who is studying with AmeriSpan in Europe.
This article, "Vacationing in a native tongue", interviews Dajana Guja, a repeat AmeriSpan language traveler, as well as AmeriSpan's co-founder and other industry experts.
The article does a great job laying out some of the many reasons why people of all ages are increasingly going abroad to learn languages. In addition, the author underscored a variety of different learning vacations including language immersion programs, summer camps for teenagers, French law classes, and professional internships.

The moment I spent in the San Jose airport on looking for someone holding a sign with my name was nervewracking, full of fleeting what-ifs. Then, there it was, with my name spelled "Jennye." Whisked into a taxi some disorienting moments later, I found myself on my way to Heredia. The driver made small talk and complimented me on my Spanish pronunciation.
