The Final Week, Part 2

Chile_Santiago_Highlights_033 By Jonathon L., guest blogger studying Spanish and skiing in Santiago, Chile

I am going to take the Dani Duran approach to starting this blog and see where that takes me:

This last week, I basically had to restart my Chile family experience because Morgan had returned to the states, Lauren was living it up in Uruguay and Buenos Aires, and for some ungodly reason, Clau (who normally works from home) happened to have one of her busy weeks where her trabajo is actually filming and she needs to be there to do her thing (I don’t think she is the star but she does some of the behind the scenes work…HOWEVER SHE COULD BE IF SHE WANTED TO!!!)

Starting SALUD in Buenos Aires

Blog_01By Katie B., Guest Blogger and SALUD Medical Spanish Student in Buenos Aires, Argentina

This is my first blog entry and my first week in Argentina!

My name is Katie, and I am a 3rd year medical student at Drexel University originally from Rochester, NY. I came to Buenos Aires, Argentina to learn Spanish so that I can communicate with the multitude of Spanish speaking people in the U.S., in an attempt to bridge the gap between the number of Spanish speaking patients and doctors.

I will be in Buenos Aires, Argentina for four months, three of which I am enrolled in AmeriSpan Spanish classes. For the first four weeks I will be studying general Spanish, and the next eight I will be in the SALUD (medical Spanish) program.

You’re Going Where?!?

Blog07_tikal2 Guest blogger Lynne R. guides us through four weeks of immersion at our Antigua Spanish school

There are so many things to worry about when planning to spend a month of your life in a foreign country. I'd like to say that I'm walking around with a skip in my step and a song in my heart, cool as a cucumber, carefree and ready for come what may. But I'm not. And I'm a little embarrassed to admit it. Now, I consider myself to be fairly well-seasoned by life, mind you. I'm no coward. I've been a performer at Walt Disney World for nearly ten years. Not a job for the faint of heart.

Sonia Meet Yamileth Sequeira and Rosy Garcia, staff members at AmeriSpan's Alajuela Spanish school in Costa Rica, as they provide short descriptions of their involvement at the school.

Yamileth Sequeira, Host Family Program Coordinator:

“I am 53 year old and I live in Alajuela, Costa Rica. I have worked at ICLC ecological campus – The Costa Rican Culture and Language Institute in the past 16 years and as a Host Family Program Coordinator I have enjoyed meeting lots of Costa Rican families that love to receive visitors from other countries. The biggest satisfaction of my work is to make sure that both, the host family and the foreign visitor, complete a successful cultural experience. It is gratifying to receive constant comments of participants that tell me that the opportunity to live with a Costa Rican family was unforgettable”

Volunteer in Jaipur, India – Video

India is a stunningly colorful subcontinent on the cutting edge of modern science and technology but who also unfortunately struggles with high proportions of malnourished and impoverished citizens. First Days in Rabat

Blog2_1 By Cameron R., Guest Blogger studying at AmeriSpan's Rabat Arabic school

Salaam 3laykom.  My name is Cameron and I am taking part in the AmeriSpan language program in Rabat, Morocco for the month of July.  I am staying with a host family for the benefit of immersing myself in the culture and maximum exposure to the darejah, or dialect in Rabat.  In addition to Morocco's location right near where I had been traveling, Granada, Spain, I could continue my studies of Arabic while being abroad without much preparation, which is not necessarily a good things to do always, but it is certainly convenient for some of us.

Carrillos Alto

DSCN0622 By Erin K., Teen Delegate Scholar and AmeriSpan Blogger studying at AmeriSpan's Alajuela Spanish school

¡Hola! My name is Erin K. and I’m 17. I’ll be a senior in high school next year and am anxiously awaiting my graduation so I can go away to college to study International Relations.  I live in St. Croix Falls, a really really tiny town in northwestern Wisconsin. I’ve had the traveling bug ever since I was little, but I’ve never been out of the country before.  So, instead of waiting until college to make my debut as a world traveler, I made the decision to travel to Costa Rica this summer for three weeks to study Spanish.
